What has been announced so far
If you’re looking for the Red God release date, there isn’t one yet. As of October 2026, no official publication date has been announced.
What’s confirmed about Red God and the Red Rising books
Penguin Random House currently lists Light Bringer as Book 6 in the Red Rising series. The published main-series reading order is:
- Red Rising
- Golden Son
- Morning Star
- Iron Gold
- Dark Age
- Light Bringer
If you’re standing in front of the shelf wondering whether there’s a less obvious entry point, there isn’t much reason to complicate it. Penguin Random House lists Red Rising as Book 1, and that’s where a first read should begin.
The publisher also describes Light Bringer as a New York Times bestseller. It’s the latest published main novel while readers wait for the next book.
There’s material beyond the six novels. The Red Rising universe also includes the Sons of Ares comic series, written by Pierce Brown and Rik Hoskin, with art by Eli Powell. Those comics widen the available reading, though they don’t change the main novel order.

What Pierce Brown said in March 2026
In March 2026, Brown said Red God is planned as the seventh and final book of the Red Rising saga.
Brown said in March 2026 that the book wouldn’t be released in summer 2026. In the same month, he also said he was still writing it.
There was at least a sense of scale. In March 2026, Brown said he’d written more than 1,000 pages of Red God. A large manuscript isn’t the same thing as a finished manuscript, though, and page count alone can’t tell us when editing, production, and publication might happen.
In March 2026, Brown also described the final novel as the conclusion of a seven-book series for Darrow. That gives the book a clear place in the saga.
Why Red God release date searches keep coming up empty
You can usually feel when a book is moving toward publication. A cover appears. A synopsis gives readers a first glimpse of the setup.
Neither an official cover nor a synopsis has been announced for Red God. Brown’s March 2026 comments also placed the book in active writing. That doesn’t allow for a responsible estimate, especially when the manuscript is meant to close a long series.
What we still don’t know
Several ordinary publication details haven’t been announced.
We don’t yet know the publisher imprint or which edition formats will be available. There’s also no official cover, synopsis, or back-cover premise for the book.
Audio details remain open as well. No audiobook narrator or audio-release plan has been announced.
Publisher-provided age guidance and content notes aren’t available yet. Given how differently readers use those details, especially when recommending a long series to someone else, it’s worth waiting for actual publisher information rather than filling the gap ourselves.
There’s a separate uncertainty around the screen adaptation. CinemaBlend reported in October 2026 that a Red Rising television adaptation was no longer moving forward in 2026. It isn’t known whether another studio or streamer will revive it.
Where this leaves a Red Rising reread
A reread often begins with good intentions and a slightly accusing row of thick books. You pick up the first volume, remember more than expected, then meet a name that feels familiar for reasons you can’t quite place.
The main novels already have a clear order, so you can begin with Red Rising and continue through Light Bringer. There’s no need to hold off until the final book arrives.
The separate Sons of Ares comics can add more time in the wider world, but they aren’t substitutes for the main-line novels. If your aim is to refresh Darrow’s story before the planned conclusion, the six published novels are the spine of that reread.
Choosing when to begin the series for the first time is a different question from deciding whether to reread it while waiting. For now, there’s enough published material to start at your own pace.
While you wait for a Red God release date, Fantasy Read gives you spoiler-free context for characters, places, and concepts in EPUB books you upload, limited to what you’ve read so far and never beyond.
